Early day.

The hardest part of early day is when they happen after a several day break-like a weekend. On THOSE auspicious mornings I highly encourage the children to sleep in as long as possible. Longer the better, and I even TRY to sleep in myself. Of course, the 2.75 dogs are the weakest link in the chain. The dogs are honey badgers when it comes to disrupting an quiet house. Our dogs seem to take pleasure in waking us up on late days. ’ Wake up, fools, theres great stuff going on outside!’ they seem to say with their tails, paws, and smiles. And god forbid TRYING to sleep in when its raining. Rain wakes the dogs up even earlier, much to my dismay. I’d sleep til damn noon in the cold and driving rain. Ps-the hell of rain, especially on a late day, is that the dogs hate it too. They just conveniently ’ forget’ that they hate cold rain.

When it finally kicks into their primitive brains, they quickly turn tail and run. Back into the warm, dry, quiet, biscuit filed house. Wait. Did I mention the diff? What exactly is this phenomenon?

earlyday?

We roll, wheels up,@0630.

lateday?

We roll, wheels up@0720, or even later. So, seeing it in writing, it SEEMS insignificant. What’s in an hour? And wtf is so early about@0630? Nothing. When I was in the navy 0500 seemed fine. I’ve got friends who get up much earlier than me, and they dont waste it by writing, they are doing.the.work. Not me. But its a solid hour difference. The dif is so small it feels petty to discuss, but trust me-by the end if the day, that hour is greatly felt.

Well its raining this morning, and cold. I was laying in bed afraid to look at the clock. Hoping against hope that it was a fluke that I was not asleep. Hoping I was just thirsty. I closed my eyes even harder and slowed down my breathing. I didn’t want to wake up the dogs. I didn’t want to get up. Then the alarm kicked in.

itstime.

For another proper length of early day.
