Go somewhere.

Hot sarah was supposed to fly out this morning at some ungodly hour 0dark30 or somesuch. I did NOT try to see her off, although I’m sure some of her fans were considering a last minute ’ say anything’ moment. Standing in the airport with a massive boom box playing a peter gabriel song. No. I say go.

godspeed

Go, go out, go make a diff. Go serve. Shes headed to korea, hopefully for a year or more. Teaching english to children. Yes I’m concerned for her safety, welfare, state of mind, nutrition, and suchlike. But I’m glad she’s going. Yes, we WILL miss her, but she’s ready to go out. Share that infectious laugh, smile, elegance, and intelligence. We need her here, in our tribe. But the world needs her even more. And she needs to get away. I saw a study about distance traveled from your birth zip code- it measured not just where ya lived, compared to your birth spot-no,it measured how far ya TRAVELED away from your original zip code. Travellers do better work, they live richer lives, they tend to be more compassionate. Isnt that really what we want for our children? It made a pretty compelling case for getting away, even if you come back. Yes, it was money based, but I think it goes deeper than that. You are richer for travel. And the world is richer for your service, especially something altruistic.

go

I’m not an evangelical, in as much as I think we gots PLENTY of work to do here. But I think we serve better after we serve abroad.

Hot Sarah was ground floor instrumental in this tribes founding, and she has been involved in facilitating the most elegant piece of work we do. She helped put the glass, the penultimate glass in damn near everyone’s hand. Yes, I’ve said it a thousand times, ‘it’s not the glass, it’s the clink of the glass’ but still…. It’s nice as hells to raise a glass. Together. And go ‘clink’.
We’ll miss hot Sarah. But we’re richer for having had her. And we’ll be richer for her travel, service, and return. I hope my children can fly to Korea (or wherever) and know they are loved and welcomed back.
Yeah, as sscl, I’m so proud of her I could pop. We raise a glass to her. THE glass. OUR glass. Clink.
