This is why most people suck on the fb.

Stumbled across this fine little Bon mot this am- “LIKE us on #Facebook and join our network of many more people who think just like us”.
Yeah. Lemme know how THAT works out for ya.
First, a confession- I love love love Facebook. But not the one you see. I love the secret one. private one, the secret groups, the underground conversations. In fact, as much as I love the private channels, I hate the public. The public is almost a complete waste of time and air. Look at the original quote again-“LIKE us on #Facebook and join our network…”
Um.
No.

So, a confession. I used to enjoy reading other people’s fan pages. Didn’t even matter what the business was it was interesting to see what it did to engage their fans. Until it became a “LIKE us on #Facebook” world in which people would like page and never ever return. And the owner was almost always to fault, as the content was vapid if any. But now some smart seo wizard has figured out how to set up landing pages.
Great.
Same wizard has infected the thinking to get visitors to enter a contest or give email info to get to the next screen. Not criticizing either, but the poor schmucks who bought that advice didn’t get the REST of the advice. Get em in, and engage em.
Not really happening.
Most I see are just links to their email newsletter. And most suck green donkey.

Most people’s Facebook strategy stops at ‘like me’. No further content, no further conversation.

I nearly shut our public page down recently. It was a dry pocket, and no matter how much increase in activity it didn’t seem to do the one goal I had in mind. Create conversations.
Which is kinda funny, as our many secret groups have lively and robust conversations.
All.day.long. Organically.
There are about a dozen I’m part of, and each one is authentic, intimate, and unexpected. Some are more active than others, but none are even remotely as static as the infinity of open ones.
Whazzat say about us?

Here’s my take- it’s not that people are unwilling to share, or even over share. It’s the intent behind the creation.
If one sets up a page and waits for the money to come rolling in, they are grossly mistaken.
But if one has a passion about something, ANYTHING, a community of kindred spirits might just spring up around it.

Pray over that today at your 19th hole, dear #kooziemongercorporateassclowndouchecanoecatalogcarpetbombingtrunkslammerstalkergladhandguys. What are you passionate about? Why aren’t you talking about that?! Instead of offering lame ass contests and touting your features and benefits?
Why no conversations about what matters to you?
I wanna cu suckless. Stat.
